Overview
Waves crash upon lighthouse-crowned rocks, First Tribes drums pound in the
island forests, and a river thunders over Niagara Falls. Through it all, an elegant
small ship cruises placidly, revealing the wonder of the Great Lakes – one of
America’s great natural treasures.

Between Duluth, Minnesota, beautifully sited on the western shore of Lake Superior,
and the modern skyline of Toronto, we’ll chart a course through Lakes Superior,
Michigan, Huron, Erie and Ontario. En route, we’ll learn about how the sweet waters
helped the growth of North American trade and industry – and how, today, Great
Lakes residents and industries are balancing economic and environmental priorities
for a sustainable future.
In particular, we’ll enjoy the tremendous grandeur of Niagara Falls, which in
1853 became the very first source of green hydroelectric power in the United
States. We’ll also transit the great Welland Canal, an engineering marvel that
enabled trans-Atlantic shipping from the Midwest, and discover the old mines
of the lushly forested Keweenaw Peninsula. In the 1800’s, more copper ran in
Keweenaw’s veins than all the gold in California.
The elegantly appointed, 100-guest, all-suite Clelia II is ideal for Great Lakes
cruising, and not just because of its comforts: it’s virtually the only deluxe
passenger ship in North America equipped to meet the stringent regulations for
cruising in the Great Lakes.
Please join us for a delightful voyage of world-class majesty, without having to
travel far from home.
