Autumn emerges from this region in the late days of September, while the air is still warm and the breezes are just a little more audible as they pass through the changing leaves. Setting forth from the idyllic city of Quebec, the 138-guest Yorktown sails up the Saguenay River and then to Matane, from where we will explore the tranquil Jardins de Métis (Reford Gardens). Continue to the Gaspe Peninsula, where Jacques Cartier staked out Canada for France. Savor the historic and natural attractions of Prince Edward Island, including Charlottetown’s old seaport; Prince House, birthplace of the Canadian Confederation; and Prince Edward Island National Park, site of the literature-steeped Anne of Green Gables House.
Explore the well-preserved towns and pristine countryside of Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton Island, where we’ll amble through the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site; the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lunenburg; and Sherbrooke, a living portrait of what Nova Scotian life was like over a century ago. This remarkable passage culminates with calls along Maine’s inviting shores whose highlights include Bar Harbor, the natural splendor of Acadia National Park, and inviting Boothbay Harbor.
